The Garden Island
Posted in travel by NateA quick 4 mile tempo run at the break of dawn. Un-used to the heat and running at 8 minute miles, my shirt was drenched with sweat and micro-earth-particles. Wild chickens fled and give chase every few minutes. Cars zoom by with loud Ukulele music filling the morning air. Red dirt and dust formed a line at my ankle. Removing my shoes revealed perfectly white feet contrasting with rust-tinted and stained calves.
I stretched on the beach, feet in the sand and listening to the waves crashing. An old lady ran by wearing an iPod and I thought of how hard-pressed I’d be to find a better morning soundtrack than the ocean right in front of us.
